About
An Education Journey

Born in Puerto Rico and transplanted to the United States almost 25 years ago, I always sought to learn and understand the world around me. My education journey brought me back to Florida International University a few years ago, where I discovered the Global Learning Medallion program. This experience provided me with countless opportunities to learn about the extensive challenges faced by my local learning communities and many others like them across the U.S.
Eager to engage in experiences which furthered by global competency, I looked for instances that served a double purpose: serving my fellow students and better understanding the differing viewpoints of everyone I met throughout my courses.

From working on initiatives supporting the FIU community through the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education Dean's Student Advisory Council to serving other education major students as President of the Early Childhood Education Club to traveling to India during the summer of 2017 to conduct research about the Early Childhood Education field from the Indian perspective-I have learned the value of the path to become a "global citizen".

Following graduation, I look forward to becoming a primary-elementary teacher hopefully working with English Language Learners! I am grateful that the experiences through my GL Medallion Program will guide me as I support students from many diverse and culturally rich communities.
